Rome, May 13 (LaPresse) – "I consider one of the noblest and most engaging tasks of academic institutions to stimulate this genuine, often multifaceted, aspiration of many young people towards knowledge and dialogue." This is what President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, said at the University of Coimbra. "I am convinced that this leads to constructive dialogue, a sense of the common good, deontological ethics, as well as a willingness to innovate and build productive social capital," continued the Head of State. "These are essential prerequisites for economic growth in advanced rule-of-law states like ours. They are also, in my opinion, manifestations of those fundamental values that we share and that have shaped European identity, values that admit no moral compromises."
