Rome, May 16 (LaPresse) – "Regarding the reports in the press about restrictive rules for employees and collaborators recently issued, Rai clarifies that these rules – designed to protect the impartiality and objectivity of public service – were already included in the circulars from 2018, 2020, and 2022 regarding electoral consultations and referendums." This was stated by Rai in a note. "The rules – it continues – specify that those who have accepted electoral candidacies must immediately inform the company: employees are encouraged to take vacation or other types of leave, both paid and unpaid, until the day the polls close, while freelance collaborators are invited to suspend their existing contracts. However, it should be emphasized that, in both cases, no one is required to take vacation/leave or suspend their contract, as there is no regulatory provision that mandates such obligations. In the case of the upcoming referendum consultation, in particular, the recent circular does not contain – as in the past – any specific provision for workers supporting the referendum committees, except for the invitations mentioned earlier. This is all to protect the neutrality of the company, aiming to prevent employees/collaborators from influencing, even indirectly, the free choices of voters."
