Rome, 25 May (LaPresse) – The second turnout figure for the local elections currently underway in 117 municipalities (plus nine in Sicily) stands at 33.48% at 7 p.m., down from the previous election (36.30%). The most eagerly awaited contest is in Genoa, followed by Taranto, Ravenna and Matera. The 31 municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants will go to a second round of voting on 8 and 9 June if none of the candidates for mayor achieves an absolute majority in the first round. A referendum is also scheduled for the same dates. Voting takes place today until 11 p.m. and tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
