Rome, June 3 (LaPresse) – “More than three years after the start of the Russian aggression and following the Istanbul talks between Ukraine and Russia, the unwavering and unhesitating support of France and Italy for Ukraine is even more necessary to achieve a fair and lasting solution. This also implies an ambitious scaling up of European defense, both in terms of investments and support for the European industrial and technological defense base.” This is stated in the joint communiqué issued at the end of the meeting between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron at Palazzo Chigi. “The meeting,” the statement continues, “also provided an opportunity to address other key security issues for Europe, particularly in the Middle East and Libya, and to coordinate their positions on transatlantic relations as well as on the European Union's economic and trade security.”
