Rome, June 7 (LaPresse) – The demonstration for Gaza will be “the ‘square of humanity’ against inhumanity and of those who have not turned their heads away to avoid seeing Netanyahu’s crimes. Against those who try to silence dissent by instrumentally using anti-Semitism, while ignoring that it is precisely those crimes that fuel a spiral of hatred and intolerance worldwide. Against the censorship of one-sided information aimed at hiding reality.”
This was stated in an interview with La Stampa by the leader of the Five Star Movement, Giuseppe Conte, who said that Giorgia Meloni’s government “has offered broad political cover to Netanyahu’s crimes out of submission to Washington.”
The demands to the government are for a “real threat of political and military isolation of Israel, which would be forced to immediately stop the genocide. Therefore, a total arms embargo and heavy economic and trade sanctions” and also the “symbolic recognition of the State of Palestine.”
“What is happening has nothing to do with Israel’s legitimate security,” he continued, “we are facing a genocide that does not offer any political solution, except for the definitive destabilization of an area long ravaged. A destabilization that plays into the hands of those, like Hamas, who have everything to gain from a spiral of hatred and violence.”
