Rome, June 9 (LaPresse) – “Today in Italy the left is promoting a referendum to halve the years required to obtain Italian citizenship: it will be rejected, the people will not vote for it. Citizenship in Italy and France is not a gift, and for the League and the Patriots, stricter rules are needed to become citizens of our nations: a few years of residence are not enough, one must prove to know, respect, and love the history, culture, and laws of the host country, in Italy as in France, otherwise everyone should go home.”
This is what Deputy Prime Minister and League Secretary Matteo Salvini said while speaking in Fontainebleau (France) at the Patriots summit.
