I think that's completely exaggerated.’ This was the response of Deputy Prime Minister and League Secretary Matteo Salvini on RTL 102.5, emphasising that this is not "a political battle for Tom, Dick or Harry; a third term means that citizens choose their own mayor and governor. If he's a “fraud”, if he's not capable, they'll send him home after the first term. If he's good, why take away the citizens' right to re-elect him and choose him again?‘ ’Citing Hitler and Mussolini in relation to Italian democracy in 2025 seems truly curious and wrong to me," he concluded, referring again to the words of the Forza Italia secretary.
