Rome, 24 June (LaPresse) "The scenario continues to change. Trump had announced a bilateral truce between Israel and Iran, which we had all welcomed with optimism, believing that it could be a prelude to the end of hostilities. This morning's scenario was moving exactly in the direction we hoped for, but now the situation has become even more complicated with Iran violating the truce and Israel possibly responding, hopefully with a proportionate and symmetrical response." This was Giorgia Meloni's response in the Senate following the general debate on the Prime Minister's communications ahead of the next European Council. “It should also be noted that Iran, after violating the truce, has confirmed its willingness to maintain the truce, and this could also be interpreted as a division within the Iranian scenario that we must take into account,” the Prime Minister stressed, explaining that ‘the situation is still very complex, but we are in contact with all the important players and we remain confident that we can move forward with a truce and return to the negotiations that Italy has been working towards since the beginning.’
