Rome, July 15 (LaPresse) – “The program agreement still needs to mature within the logic of local authorities, because unfortunately Italy is once again delegating its industrial future to the Municipality of Taranto. Meanwhile, no one is showing support to the mayor of Taranto. He, newly elected, will have to go and tell his citizens—on behalf of all of Italy—that they must endure and suffer for several more years in a situation where the sources of pollution remain active. The outlook is difficult because this is a dramatic issue that has been left to rot for years and years.” This was stated by the President of the Apulia Region, Michele Emiliano, upon his arrival at the Ministry of Enterprises for the meeting on the inter-institutional agreement regarding the former Ilva steel plant.
