Rome, July 20 (LaPresse) – "No one wants a clash" between politics and the judiciary. "The justice reform proposed by the center-right is simply one of the pillars of Forza Italia’s history. In short: justice in the service of citizens."
This is what Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
According to Tajani, "those who hold public service positions should refrain from expressing political opinions. I would add that I have the utmost respect for the judiciary: I bear the surname of the first anti-mafia magistrate in history, Diego Tajani, who later became Minister of Justice in the Depretis government."
On the justice reform, Tajani added: "I believe magistrates have no reason to worry. The reform places prosecution and defense on equal footing and emphasizes the role of the impartial judge. Even Giovanni Falcone believed that those who prosecute should not be colleagues of those who judge. And the attempt to eliminate the factions that controlled the High Council of the Judiciary is absolutely justified."
