Rome, 21 July (LaPresse) – ‘My grandfather's name is frightening.’ This was how Laura Matteotti, Giacomo's granddaughter, commented to LaPresse on the damage to the plaque in memory of her grandfather, today on the Tiber embankment in Rome. ‘It's despicable. They had recently tidied up the area around it. Now,’ she asks, ‘who will take care of it?’ ‘I would like to see unanimous condemnation from the institutions,’ she added. ‘I try to put a face to these people, but I can't. I don't know if they have political connotations or if they are just idiots,’ said Elena Matteotti, another granddaughter of the socialist deputy assassinated by fascists in 1924. "I was pleased with Tajani's intervention this morning. Meloni did not take a position, but this does not surprise me: last year, at the beginning of the centenary of his death, I asked her to take a stand, but she did not. It would mean disavowing what she believes in."
