Rome, 25 July (LaPresse) – ‘We are working in all six regions going to the polls to build the most competitive alliances to defeat the right. I am confident, we remain committed and are gearing up in this direction. Our opponent is the right, and we want to defeat them as we did in Emilia Romagna and Umbria.’ This was how PD secretary Elly Schlein commented on the absence of Five Star Movement president Giuseppe Conte among the centre-left leaders present at a conference in the Chamber of Deputies. Pressed by reporters on the issue of employment, which was the focus of the conference, Schlein added: ‘Together with the Five Star Movement and AVS, there aren't enough hands to count all the joint initiatives.’
