Rome, 3 August (LaPresse) – "I said “let the Calabrians decide” and what happened? The opposition, with the M5S, got angry because I resigned. I think that in a civilised country, no one should resign because of a notice of investigation, because it is a protective measure and should not be used by political pygmies as a weapon to defeat their opponents." These were the words of Calabria's president, Roberto Occhiuto, speaking at the “Gli Stati generali di FI” conference currently underway in Reggio Calabria. ‘I made this choice, but Antonio (Tajani, ed.) knew it, Giorgia knew it, Matteo Salvini knew it, and I am very grateful to those who gave me the opportunity to lead this region, because I love it,’ he added.
