Rome, Aug. 7 (LaPresse) – "Magistrates do not engage in politics; they carry out their duties every day despite insults, intimidation, and a constant campaign of delegitimization that undermines the very foundations of our democratic state. 'Justice is administered in the name of the people. Judges are subject only to the law.' This is stated in Article 101 of our Constitution, which is a cornerstone of our democracy. The Italian judiciary will continue to fulfill its role with deep respect for the constitutional mandate. There is no plot against the government; to claim otherwise is to fail to understand how the separation of powers in the state works." So reads a statement from the Central Executive Committee of the National Association of Magistrates (ANM).
