Milan, August 28 (LaPresse) – “The spread of these pornographic sites where women are used as bargaining chips highlights a serious and dangerous regression in the culture of respect for the individual. Unfortunately, we are witnessing increasingly widespread phenomena also through social media, which have become places where everything is allowed and where women appear as mere objects on which violence and brutality are unleashed. These cases can affect any woman, regardless of social status or fame, making them even more insidious.”
This is what Alessandra Moretti, an MEP from the PD party, said in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
Has she reported them to send a message to other women?
“What matters most to me is that everyone reacts and reports these groups of small men who continue to act with impunity on the web despite many complaints. The fight against gender-based violence must be shared by both women and men because the problem of violence is a men’s issue and we are the victims. These types of sites that incite rape and violence must be shut down and banned,” she added.
Then Moretti makes an appeal: “I urge everyone to report these abuses. We have seen various examples of how women are exposed and treated as bargaining chips, from the ‘My Wife’ group onwards. But precisely because this can happen to any of us, especially the younger ones, those with greater visibility and responsibility, like myself, must take the lead in defending rights and, I add, in defending women’s safety: violence begets violence.”
