Rome, 31 August (LaPresse) – ‘The totally unfounded statements by French Prime Minister François Bayrou, according to which Italy is engaging in “fiscal dumping”, penalising France, are surprising. The Italian economy is attractive and is performing better than others thanks to the stability and credibility of our nation.’ This is what we read in a note from Palazzo Chigi. ‘Italy does not apply unjustified tax incentives to attract European companies and, with this government, has even doubled the flat-rate tax burden in force since 2016 on individuals who transfer their residence to Italy,’ the statement continued. . ‘Italy has, in fact, been penalised for many years by so-called “European tax havens”, which deprive our public coffers of considerable resources. We trust that, following these statements by its prime minister, France will finally join Italy in taking action within the European Union against those Member States that have always applied systematic tax dumping, with the complacency of some European states.’
