Rome, Sept. 2 (LaPresse) – “There is deep concern for the men and women who have made the very courageous decision to face the sea in order to bring essential goods to Gaza. There is concern over the reaction of the Israeli government, and I hope that—since many Italian citizens are on those boats—the Italian government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be able to ensure their safety and security. Because this is a humanitarian and peace mission.
The statements by the Israeli government, which intends to treat as terrorists those who simply want to bring peace, hope, and a bit of food, are unacceptable. We hope the Italian government will respond with very clear and firm words toward the Israeli authorities.”
This was stated by the leader of the Five Star Movement (M5S) in the Senate, Stefano Patuanelli, at the end of the meeting between the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, and the opposition group leaders.
