Rome, Oct. 2 (LaPresse) – “Serious and responsible people should work, as the Italian government tries to do every day, to stop the violence, the war, the hunger in Gaza and to make the peace plan for Gaza, Palestine and the whole Middle East concrete, safe and stable. Everyone, of course, with their own point of view, sensitivity and political approach. Instead, in some circles an absurd equation is taking hold. Because everything is burning in Gaza, someone says: let’s burn everything in Italy too. Why? Against whom? With what aim? With what desired result? Does anyone really believe that blocking a station, an airport, a motorway or destroying a shop in Italy will bring relief to the Palestinian people? Or will it change the choices of another country’s government? It won’t. Burning everything, stopping everything, frightening everyone, helps no one and will only harm all Italians,” writes Defence Minister Guido Crosetto on X.

He adds: “In recent days President Giorgia Meloni and today in the Chamber Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani have made it clear that the only possible path to peace and to the peaceful construction of two states where two peoples can live in the Middle East is today the plan proposed by Trump, which has already been approved by almost all Arab countries. Solidarity with the Palestinian people is shown by working to put out the fire in Gaza, not by setting our cities on fire. I hope all responsible and sensible people, whatever their political colour, understand that this moment requires unity of purpose at the international level, responsible debate at home and a total rejection of any violent act.”
