Rome, Oct 16 (LaPresse) – “The ‘Museum and Network for Food’ is an initiative that not only allows us to retrace the history of an international institution that we are pleased to have hosted in Rome since 1951, but also conveys an important message about a commitment that has gradually taken shape in its strategic significance: from food security to ecosystem sustainability,” said President Sergio Mattarella during the inauguration ceremony of the FAO Museum and Network for Food and Agriculture.

“The path to achieve the goals of food security and ecosystem sustainability, already outlined some time ago in the United Nations 2030 Agenda, unfortunately remains largely unfulfilled, including the aspiration for a world without hunger,” the Head of State added.

“For the commitment against food insecurity to be effective and sustained over time, it must be nurtured by adequate awareness on topics that are often relegated to the margins of public debate. To be active protagonists, citizens need to be informed. Knowledge remains the primary driver to stimulate greater engagement, directing the energies, especially of younger generations, to meet the challenges and make possible the construction of a fairer future,” concluded Mattarella.
