Milan, 31 Dec. (LaPresse) – A budget "of austerity, which helps the rich the most. Because public spending on GDP has fallen in healthcare, but also in education and housing. On the other hand, military spending has increased, taxes have risen and utility bills have gone up: the most expensive in Europe. This is how families are being brought to their knees. They promised to abolish the Fornero law and increased the retirement age for 96% of Italians, they promised to lower excise duties and increased them. A manoeuvre of broken promises'. So said Elly Schlein, secretary of the PD, in an interview with La Stampa. “They wanted to abolish the Fornero law, they are raising the retirement age. Meloni thought she would build bridges with the US, but we are suffering more than others from tariffs,” said the PD secretary. For the PD leader, the manoeuvre ‘does not address the two main fears of Italians: the high cost of living and waiting lists in healthcare. The manoeuvre is moving in the wrong direction with respect to the needs of citizens. Raising the retirement age, in fact, lays bare all their inconsistency.’
