Milan, 1 February (LaPresse) – ‘Let me be clear. These are not protesters. These are organised criminals. When you hit someone with a hammer, you do so knowing that the consequences can be very, very serious. This is not a protest, these are not clashes. It's attempted murder.’ This was written on X by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who this morning visited the officers injured in Saturday's clashes in Turin. ‘This morning I was at Le Molinette Hospital in Turin to express, on behalf of Italy, solidarity with two of the officers injured in yesterday's clashes and, through them, with all the military and law enforcement personnel involved,’ explained the Prime Minister, adding: ‘I expect the judiciary to assess these incidents for what they are, without hesitation, applying the rules that already exist and allow for a firm response, so that the reporting of those responsible is not followed by nothing, as has unfortunately happened too many times.’
