Rome, 21 Apr. (LaPresse) – "It is worth noting that there has been much discussion on the issue of voluntary repatriation. I wish to make it clear before this parliamentary assembly that this scheme is certainly not an invention of this government, and assisted voluntary repatriation has been provided for in our legal system for over 10 years in implementation of European and national regulations." So said the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, speaking in the Chamber of Deputies at the end of the general debate on the Security Decree. “We have taken note of certain concerns that have been expressed regarding a specific point in the legislation and we are prepared to amend it,” the Home Secretary then announced, adding that “on behalf of the government, I extend a clear and firm invitation to this Chamber of Deputies to approve this important bill. The government will press ahead with determination because we are convinced we are on the right path.”
