Milan, Jan. 25 (LaPresse) – The appointment with the first success in a Grand Slam is still postponed for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. The two Italians lost for the second year in a row the doubles final at the Australian Open, this time beaten by the pair formed by Finn Harri Heliovaara and Briton Henry Patten. The Wimbledon champions won in three sets on a comeback with the score of 6-7 (16), 7-6 (5), 6-3 after more than three hours of play with the match finished after 1.00 a.m. Melbourne time. Great bitterness for Bolelli and Vavassori at their third defeat in a Slam final, after the two lost last year in Australia and at Roland Garros. Heliovaara and Patten confirmed themselves as black beasts for the two Italians, as they had also won their first duel in a major, in the first round at Wimbledon 2024, launching the path that would lead them to their first career Slam title.
