Turin, Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – "Dear Bianconeri, I don’t even know where to start. I knew this day would come eventually, but you’re never truly ready for goodbyes. It’s been five and a half years, but for me, it feels like an entire lifetime. It’s never easy to part from a love, from a place that has given me so much, from a jersey that brought me incredible emotions, from a club and a history in which I found the values that have guided me throughout my career and that I learned from my parents."
Thus begins Danilo’s farewell letter to Juventus, shared in a video on Instagram. The club has mutually agreed to terminate the Brazilian defender’s contract, allowing him to return home to play for Flamengo.
"When I arrived, I learned from the great men in the locker room and within Juventus, and then I became a teacher and defender of these values myself, with everything I had, as if they were a part of me—like the lessons I pass on to my children, who have made Turin their home and become passionate fans of these colors," he continued.
"Perhaps it’s because of my respect and deep fight for these values that I can no longer be part of this project. What makes me proud is that I’ve never changed my way of being or my way of defending the most important club of my career. I feel that everyone in the Juventus world is part of my family—every employee, every teammate, every person who wears this jersey with pride, without only thinking about the numbers, with honesty, and above all, taking on every Juventus challenge as a personal one. It’s a way of life."
"To our fans, I apologize for the times I may have disappointed you—never for a lack of effort, dedication, or hard work. And I thank you with all my heart for the way I was welcomed, respected, and for the bond we built during my journey, where I always felt like your representative on the field."
