Milan, Jan. 30 (LaPresse) – Gonzalo Quesada, head coach of the Italian men's rugby team, has announced the starting line-up for Italy's first match against Scotland at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Saturday February 1st at 2.15pm local time (3.15pm Italian time) in the Guinness Six Nations 2025. The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sport 1 and simulcast on Rai 2. It will be the 38th match between the two teams, the 19th in Scotland: the Highlanders have won 28 and the Azzurri have won nine, the last time being last March when Michele Lamaro lifted the ‘Cuttitta Cup’, which will be up for grabs between the two national teams on Saturday to celebrate the memory of Massimo Cuttitta, Italy's historic captain and coach of the Scottish forwards. The wide triangle chosen by Quesada is the same as the one announced at the 2024 Nations opener (which then saw the last minute inclusion of Pani in the starting XV in place of Capuozzo) with Tommaso Allan, the Azzurri with the most caps and the top Italian goalscorer in the history of the tournament, lined up at fullback along with wingers Ange Capuozzo and Monty Ioane: The Stade Toulousain three-quarter, who made his debut with Italy against Scotland, scoring two tries at the Olympic Stadium in the 2022 Six Nations, will be playing on the historic Murrayfield turf for the first time in his career.
