Rome, 31 Jan (LaPresse) – Olympique Lyon have announced the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as the team's new coach until 30 June 2027. The Portuguese takes over from the exonerated Pierre Sage. ‘This choice, taken unanimously by John Textor and the entire sports management, is part of the desire to give Olympique a strong ambition, both on the national and European scene,’ reads the note through which the official announcement was made. The former AC Milan coach will be supported in his duties by a staff made up of Paulo Ferreira (assistant coach), Antonio Ferreira (goalkeeping coach), Paulo Mourao (athletic trainer), Nelson Duarte (video analyst) and Jorge Maciel and Damien Della Santa, who has already been present this season. Paulo Fonseca will make his debut on the bench on Sunday in Marseille, on the 20th day of Ligue 1.
