Milan, Feb 5 (LaPresse) – Fabio Quartararo, riding for Yamaha, set the fastest time after the first day of MotoGP testing at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. The former world champion clocked 1'57"555, narrowly edging out Marc Marquez, who made his official debut on the Ducati, by just 0.051 seconds.

Third fastest was Alex Marquez on a Gresini Ducati, just a tenth of a second behind. Spanish rookie Fermin Aldeguer, also on a Gresini Ducati, secured fourth place ahead of Franco Morbidelli from the VR46 team.

Defending world champion Pecco Bagnaia finished only 17th, as he did not focus on a time attack today.

A significant incident occurred with reigning champion Jorge Martin, making his debut with Aprilia, suffering a serious crash. Updates on his condition are awaited from the hospital.
