Rome, Feb. 9 (LaPresse) – Success for Nina Astner in the women's giant in Oberjoch valid for the European Cup. The Austrian, third in the middle of the race, took the top step of the podium with an overall time of 1'42"55. Behind her was Swiss Selina Egloff, distanced by 23 hundredths; German Fabiana Dorigo completed the podium at 25 hundredths. Good tenth position tied with Swiss Vanessa Kasper for Alessia Guerinoni: the Bergamasque finished her effort at 62 hundredths from the winner with a recovery of seven positions, while Aosta Valley's Sophie Mathiou finished twelfth at 67 hundredths with thirteen positions climbed. Also finishing in the thirties were Francesca Carolli 16th, Ilaria Ghisalberti 20th, Carole Agnelli 21st and Elisa Platino 23rd. Further behind were Ambra Pomare, Tatum Bieler, Laura Steinmair; Margherita Cecere withdrew. In the overall standings French Marion Chevrier leads with 576 points over Austrians Nadine Fest with 500 and Victoria Olivier with 485, Sara Allemand is 10th with 302. In giant slalom Astner leads with 302 points Kasper with 251 and Olivier with 198. Next event Bardonecchia on Wednesday, February 13 and Thursday, February 14 with two supergiants.
