Madrid (Spain), 13 February (LaPresse/AP) – The defence of former Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales has asked the judge to acquit the former sports executive of both charges for which he is accused, namely sexual assault and coercion for allegedly pressurising Jennifer Hermoso to defend him publicly after the scandal erupted over his kiss at the 2023 Women's World Cup award ceremony. ‘There was no sexual intent on Rubiales‘ part,’ said the former sports executive's lawyer, Olga Tubau, ‘after all that has been proven, he should be acquitted. If you consider that the prosecution's hypothesis is reasonable, I think the objections to the prosecution's motivation are also reasonable. I think there are objective doubts that have to be taken into account".
