Milan, Feb. 15 (LaPresse) – Dominik Fischnaller finished second in PyeongChang, climbing onto the World Cup podium for the 36th time in his career. Only Austria's Wolfgang Kindl managed to beat the Italian in the penultimate stage of the World Cup season. On the track that hosted the 2018 Olympic Games—where he finished just off the podium and still holds the track record—Fischnaller showed his effectiveness from the very first run, finishing right behind Kindl. In the second run, he confirmed his placement, fending off comeback attempts by Latvia’s Kristers Aparjods, who finished third, and Germany’s Max Langenhan, who remained in fourth place. For the Italian, this marks his second podium finish of the season after taking third place in Altenberg. Kindl held his ground and secured victory with a final time of 1'35"422, with a 92-millisecond lead over Fischnaller. Aparjods finished 0"111 behind, while Langenhan trailed by 0"160. Italy’s Leon Felderer and Alex Gufler finished in 15th and 16th place, respectively, with time gaps of 1"688 and 1"735.
