(LaPresse) – Jasmine Paolini has booked her place in the quarter finals of the ‘Miami Open’, the fourth WTA 1000 tournament of the season, which is being held on the hard courts of the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. The 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca, ranked 7th and seeded 6th, beat the Japanese Naomi Osaka, no. 61 WTA, finalist in Miami in 2022 (stopped by Swiatek), in a comeback 3-6 6-4 6-4, in two hours and a quarter of play, conquering for the fourth time a place among the best eight in a ‘1000’, she who had never gone beyond the third round in Florida. The Tuscan tennis player is the seventh Italian in history to reach the quarter-finals in Florida after Reggi (1989), Farina Elia (1998), Garbin (2007), Errani (2013), Vinci (2013) and Trevisan (2023). In the quarter-finals, Paolini will face either the American Coco Gauff, no.3 in the ranking and seeding, or the Polish Magda Linette, no.34 WTA, on the other side of the net.
