Rome, March 26 (LaPresse) – "The Russians, over the past three years, have killed many athletes, football players, coaches, and many fans, among others. The decision of a highly respected champion, not only as an athlete but also as a person, to go to Russia now is inhumane, not only towards the victims but also towards his colleagues who believe in sport as a vehicle for peace." These were the words of Oles Horodetskyy, president of the Ukrainian Christian Association in Italy, commenting on Francesco Totti's decision to travel to Russia for an event. "We ask Totti to reconsider," he added. "The war will end, and the aggressor will be defeated, but what will remain in people's memory is the fact that a great champion, at a decisive moment, legitimized those on the wrong side of history with his choice."
