Rome, March 26 (LaPresse) – "A unanimous decision was made by the FGI federal council to terminate the contract of Professor Emanuela Maccarani. A cycle ends after 30 years of technical management, a unique case in sports, and the current council members, including myself, decided that this cycle had come to an end. We must thank Emanuela Maccarani for all her successes, looking to the future with optimism, confidence, and new energy." These were the words of the new president of the Italian Gymnastics Federation (Federginnastica), Andrea Facci, at the end of the first FGI federal council meeting today at the Coni Federation Headquarters in Rome. Maccarani thus concludes her experience with the national team, after the well-known allegations of abuse made by some Italian gymnasts. "Rhythmic gymnastics allows the president to choose their national coaches, so I decided not to confirm the national technical direction for rhythmic gymnastics. I will take over the national rhythmic direction on an interim basis until June 30, always in continuity with a review of the federation’s budgets."
