Turin, April 3 (LaPresse) – Luciano Darderi has reached the quarterfinals of the Grand Prix Hassan II, the ATP 250 clay court event currently underway in Marrakech, Morocco (prize pool of 596,035 euros). The Italian took three sets to defeat Frenchman Hugo Gaston (No. 84), winning 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in just over two hours of play. "It's very nice," he said after the match. "There were many Italians cheering for me, and I thank them. I'm happy because it was a difficult match, we’ve faced each other several times with Gaston, I didn’t play well in the first set but then I gained confidence, and from the second set onwards, I fought for every point."
