Rome, 21 April (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner begins week 46 as world number 1. The South Tyrolean thus equals Rafa Nadal's first spell at the top of the rankings (18 August 2009 – 5 July 2009). If he manages to remain number 1 until the end of Roland Garros, he will become the fifth player since 1973, when computerised rankings were introduced, to remain at number 1 for 52 consecutive weeks (and therefore for a year) after reaching the top spot for the first time. The only players to have achieved this feat so far are Switzerland's Roger Federer (237 weeks), the United States' Jimmy Connors (160), Australia's Lleyton Hewitt (75) and Serbia's Novak Djokovic (53). Italy starts this week with a total of nine players in the world's top 100. Federico Arnaboldi's entry into the Top 200 is worth noting.
