Milan, 25 April (LaPresse) – UEFA will observe a minute's silence in memory of His Holiness Pope Francis before this week's Youth League and Women's Champions League semi-finals and the semi-finals of the men's club competitions taking place from 29 April to 1 May. Following the Pope's passing on Monday, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin paid tribute to his life and legacy. ‘Pope Francis was a beacon of hope for all humanity in these times of war and hardship,’ Ceferin said. ‘Humanity will now be bereft of that tireless and powerful voice that always stood up for the poor, the humble and the vulnerable, calling for respect, acceptance and equality, and imploring for a peace that always seemed distant but which the heart of the world has always desired,’ he added.
