Rome, April 30 (LaPresse) – With the aim of curbing violence against referees, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has approved the creation of an Observatory on Violence Against Referees, following a proposal by FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. The new body will have a dual role: analyzing incidents and promoting initiatives to combat the phenomenon.
The Observatory will be coordinated by Paolo Cortis, former President of the National Observatory on Sports Events, with Carlo Pacifici (AIA) as deputy coordinator. Members will include: Michelangelo Vitali (LNP A), Edoardo Busala (LNP B), Andrea Pippa (Lega Pro), Giovanni Cadoni (LND), Giorgio Gaggioli (AIC), and Francesca Stancati (AIAC).
"This is an increasingly critical and unacceptable issue. We decided to establish this Observatory to study the phenomenon and adopt countermeasures," said Gravina.
