Turin, May 7 (LaPresse) – Tyra Caterina Grant, WTA No. 335, came within a hair’s breadth of a perfect debut at the Internazionali d’Italia, with the Italian flag next to her name. The 17-year-old player, born in Rome, came close to victory but failed to convert two match points on return at 5-3 in the third set, eventually succumbing to a comeback from Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic (ranked No. 117) with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 after 2 hours and 38 minutes of play.
