Rome, 12 May (LaPresse) – The match between Jannik Sinner and Francisco Cerundolo on Tuesday 13 May has all the makings of a rematch, with a place in the quarter-finals of the Internazionali BNL in Rome at stake. Two years ago, in fact, in the only previous meeting between the two on clay, the Argentine eliminated the Italian in three sets (6-7, 6-2, 6-2), preventing him from reaching the last 16 of the tournament in the capital. The world number one will therefore face his opponent with great respect. In his first two matches since his return, against Navone – another Argentine – and de Jong, he showed that he has not lost any of his tennis quality but obviously needs to regain his competitive form. Cerundolo, for his part, has not yet dropped a set, beating Chile's Jarry 7-6, 6-3 and, in the round of 16, Austria's Ofner 6-2, 6-4. The South Tyrolean therefore faces a particularly challenging task in what will be the fifth meeting between the two (the previous matches are tied at 2-2). The match between Sinner and Cerundolo, scheduled for around 3 p.m. – the third match of the day on the Central Court of the Foro Italico – will be broadcast live and free-to-air on Rai 1.
