Milan, 14 May (LaPresse/Ap) – Tour de France riders will also tackle the iconic Montmartre hill in Paris in this year's final stage, before arriving at the Champs-Élysées, the most important finish line in cycling. The organisers made the announcement today, with the aim of consolidating the popular success of the race on the route of the last Olympics. Last year's final stage took place outside Paris for the first time since 1905 due to a clash with the Olympics, moving instead to Nice. For security and logistical reasons, the French capital did not have its traditional Tour finish on the Champs-Élysées. The world-famous avenue is back on the programme this year for the conclusion of the 3,320 km route. ‘To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first final arrival on the Champs-Élysées, and one year after the excitement and applause of the Paris 2024 Olympic road race, the peloton will return to the capital on a route that will pass through the heights of Montmartre,’ said the organisers. There will be 21 stages this year in the Grande Boucle, which will take place from 5 to 27 July 2025.
