Rome, May 17 (LaPresse) – “Binaghi’s statements about CONI? I’ll be honest. I think it's a mistake — a mistake to stoop to that level of style. I have always said that CONI must be defended: it’s a public institution, it represents the State. What he said is offensive from every perspective — and moreover, it’s not even true.
I’m just sorry that other institutions, which should publicly speak out on this, haven’t done so — especially since this is an objective fact. I have nothing more to add. His words speak for themselves and reflect on the person who said them.”
This was the response of Giovanni Malagò, president of CONI, to accusations made by FITP president Angelo Binaghi, speaking at the Libertas award ceremony at the Hall of Honour at CONI, where FITP vice-president Chiara Appendino was also present.
