Rome, May 18 (LaPresse) – Carlos Alcaraz has won the men’s singles title at the Italian Open. The Spanish player, ranked number 3 in the world, beat Jannik Sinner in straight sets, 7-6 (5), 6-1, in one hour and 43 minutes. With this loss, Sinner's 26-match winning streak comes to an end, and he misses the chance to bring the trophy back to Italy, where it has been absent for 49 years (last won by Adriano Panatta in 1976). For Alcaraz, it is his first victory in Rome and the 19th ATP title of his career.
