Turin, 19 May (LaPresse) – Francesco Farioli has decided to leave Ajax ‘after careful consideration’. The Dutch club announced the news in a statement, having lost the Eredivisie title in dramatic fashion after squandering a nine-point lead with four games to go, allowing PSV Eindhoven to win their 26th title in their history at the weekend. ‘The management and I have the same goals for the future of Ajax, but we have different visions and timelines on how we should work and operate to achieve them,’ explained the Italian coach. ‘Due to these differences in principles and fundamentals of the project, I feel from the bottom of my heart that this is the best time to part ways.’ ‘I find this incredibly sad,’ admitted technical director Alex Kroes. "Francesco and his staff have been a great help to us. It has been an intense season, full of memorable moments, and we have achieved our goal: qualifying for the next Champions League. Francesco has played a key role in strengthening the culture of performance at Ajax, for which we are extremely grateful. This summer was shaping up to be a busy transfer window, and now it has become even more so. It is up to us to ensure that a new and strong coaching staff is in place at the start of pre-season training on 26 June."
