Turin, 22 May (LaPresse) – ’It's true, there's an electric atmosphere, we can feel it everywhere. It's normal off the pitch, but on the pitch we need our heads and hearts.’ These were the words of Naples mayor Gaetano Manfredi on the eve of Napoli-Cagliari, the match that could give the Campania side their fourth Scudetto. ‘Support for Napoli is an endless passion, experienced viscerally. There is complete identification between the team and the city, and together they are making progress. Success, when it comes, is never the result of luck, but of planning and competence,’ he emphasised. ’I like the enthusiasm with which the fans follow the Azzurri, sometimes dressing up as coaches, getting carried away by their passion, as they should. The Maradona stadium is always sold out, a spectacle for the whole of Italy.’ As for the stadium issue, ‘we have presented a master plan for the redevelopment of the Maradona to President De Laurentiis. We will continue discussions in the coming days. Naples deserves a modern and functional stadium, and the municipality will do its part financially and administratively,’ concluded Manfredi.
