Turin, 29 May (LaPresse) – The second day of the European Open Water Swimming Championships in Stari Grad, on the Croatian island of Hvar, got off to a flying start for the Italian team. After winning silver in the 10 km, Ginevra Taddeucci won the gold medal in the 5 km with a time of 59'51"95. The 27-year-old Florentine Olympic bronze medallist – registered with Fiamme Oro and AC Group Canottieri Napoli and coached by Giovanni Pistelli – competed as a true protagonist, maintaining the lead from the early stages and holding off the final attacks from Hungary's Viktoria Mihalyvari, yesterday's gold medallist in the double distance, who finished in 59'53‘94, 1’99 behind. Completing the podium was Spain's Maria De Valdes Alvarez, third in 59'55"03.
