Turin, June 9 (LaPresse) – At the end of Roland Garros, Aryna Sabalenka remains at the top of the WTA rankings. The 27-year-old from Minsk, runner-up at the French Slam, maintains a 3,470-point lead over the new queen of Paris, American Coco Gauff, who confirms her career-best ranking.
In third place is Jessica Pegula, Gauff’s compatriot, who matches her personal best and trails by 1,600 points. Also holding steady is Jasmine Paolini, champion in Rome and ranked fourth, with her best position confirmed. However, her gap from Gauff widens to 1,678 points, as her result in Paris this year (round of 16) replaces her 2023 final appearance.
In fifth place climbs Qinwen Zheng of China, who moves up two spots, matches her career-best, and becomes the second Chinese player in history to enter the elite ranks after Li Na.
Still in sixth is 18-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva, who maintains her personal best, just ahead of Iga Swiatek. The Polish star, who lost the world No. 1 spot last fall after a total of 125 weeks at the top (including the last 50 consecutively), drops two more positions after failing to defend her 2024 Roland Garros title (her last trophy), falling to seventh place.
Madison Keys, the Australian Open champion, remains stable in eighth, while Spain’s Paula Badosa climbs to ninth, swapping places with American Emma Navarro, who drops to tenth, closing the world elite.
