Naples, June 10 (LaPresse) – The FIA and Formula 1 have announced the calendar for the 2026 World Championship. There will be 24 Grands Prix, with Madrid making its debut and the absence of the Imola circuit, which had hosted the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix since 2020. The season will start on March 8 in Australia and conclude on December 6 in Abu Dhabi. The Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will once again be held in April, due to Ramadan, which in 2026 will fall between February and March. The Canadian GP will follow Miami, then the European leg will begin in Monaco from June 5 to 7 and wrap up in Spain, where Madrid will host its first-ever F1 race from September 11 to 13. The championship will then return to Asia with the Azerbaijan and Singapore GPs, followed by a triple-header across North and South America (United States, Mexico, and Brazil), and the season will finish in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem called it “a new and significant chapter for our sport.” He added: “With 24 Grands Prix across five continents, the season truly reflects the global nature of our community, and the improved geographical distribution of the calendar demonstrates our joint commitment to making the championship more efficient and sustainable.”

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: “2026 will mark a new era for Formula 1. We’ll witness an entirely new set of regulations for our sport, with cars and engines powered 100% by sustainable fuel. We are excited to welcome Madrid to the calendar and to see major automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac, and Ford join the Formula 1 grid.”
