Milan, June 10 (LaPresse) – Manchester City has kicked off the post-Kevin De Bruyne era by signing French playmaker Rayan Cherki from Lyon for €36 million, just in time to play in the Club World Cup. Twenty-one-year-old Cherki is considered one of the most promising young talents in French football. He scored with a stunning volley and was the star of the show as a substitute on his international debut for France against Spain in the Nations League semi-final last week. He is set to fill the void left by De Bruyne, the team's star player, who left after 10 years. Cherki's transfer comes a day after the arrival of Algerian left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton for around $40 million.
