Milan, June 19 (LaPresse) – Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has been diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis and was hospitalized in Miami for tests and treatment. The club announced the news through an official medical statement from Palm Beach, where the team has been training since last Saturday ahead of the Club World Cup.
According to Marca, Mbappé began feeling unwell after Monday's training session, 48 hours before the match against Al Hilal. Since then, he has not only been unable to train, but has barely been able to leave his hotel room. Although on Tuesday, before the match, Xabi Alonso said he would wait for Mbappé until the last moment, the Frenchman wasn’t even able to travel with his teammates and stayed at the hotel to rest.
As his condition didn’t improve as expected, Real Madrid decided to transfer him to the hospital for further evaluation and appropriate treatment. As a result, Mbappé will also miss the second Club World Cup match against Pachuca.
