Milan, 20 June (LaPresse) – Ahead of the 38th America's Cup, Luna Rossa strengthens its “front line” with an exceptional addition, Peter Burling, the New Zealand helmsman who won the last three editions of the America's Cup. Burling – according to a statement – joins Luna Rossa two months after mutually agreeing to end his collaboration with the current Defender Emirates Team New Zealand, with whom he won the Cup in 2017 and successfully defended it in 2021 and 2024. At the end of the transition, which was handled with great mutual respect, Burling officially joins the Luna Rossa team and is ready to contribute, both from a sporting and technical point of view, to the Italian challenge for the next edition of the America's Cup. Winner of three Olympic medals (gold in Rio 2016 and silver in London 2012 and Tokyo 2021) and six world championships in the 49er class, as well as three consecutive editions of the America's Cup, Burling brings with him an incredible wealth of experience, not only in terms of sport and sailing, but also from a technical and development perspective.
